White Water Rafting at Sungai Kampar, Gopeng

Haha... I'm feeling very adventurous lately. The outdoor activities have been getting a little frequent in the past couple of weeks.

On midnight Friday, I was suddenly jolted awake by the sound of my SMS ringtone. The text from Wei Xuan read, "Wanna go white water rafting with me and my friends tmr evening?" After a couple more text exchanges later, I was hopping on the Riverbug van together with his friends, heading for the Kampar River for my first attempt at White Water Rafting!

Boom-boom rapids

The rapids of Sg. Kampar are classified as Grades I-III. After my experience, I deem it extremely mild and not scary at all, even for a first-timer like me. I'd imagined it to be something more thrilling, like rafting off waterfalls in Indiana Jones. Seeing that I was the only girl on board, I added some screams and shrieks for effect lah...

At some parts of the river, we tried out some body-rafting techniques. We also climbed up a tree branch dangling horizontally across the river and mimicked the Olympic divers -- double somersault down! It felt like being a kid again, bathing in Sg. Bil. At that point I had the feeling that I had paid a little too much on the high side -- RM145 for the rafting. Darn. I didn't even capsize, nor get flung out of the raft! :-( But I did get a glimpse of some lovely Raja Brooke butterflies fluttering their pretty wings on the bank though. :-)

Us in the boat - Anybody interested in these 4 fit bachelors, feel free to drop me a comment.

Conquered Sg. Kampar!

Last but not least, dinner at Kampar's famous claypot chicken rice... YUMMYLICIOUS!!!
